This can’t be right

In an unlikely development, Microsoft suddenly seem like the good guys in the whole Sony rootkit copy protection debacle that has had the techy blogosphere in knots for 2 weeks now. Microsoft stepping in to protect us from such terrible intrusions, the knight in shining armour?

Don’t worry, the world is not suddenly going to stop spinning. It should not be forgotten that Windows is capable of allowing rootkits to be installed in this way. Microsoft are just plugging a hole that shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

Phew, that’s ok then, the equilibrium is intact. Windows is still pants and I can rejoice in the safety of desktop Linux.
